Avijit is Professor of Cariology & Operative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences (FoDOCS), King’s College London, and Hon. Consultant, Restorative Dentistry, Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals Foundation Trust, London, UK. He is an Hon Consultant Advisor to the OCDO England, Editor-in-Chief of the British Dental Journal Portfolio, President of the British Society of Oral & Dental Research (BSODR) and member of the Board of Trustees of the UK Oral & Dental Research Trust (ODRT).
His international research expertise spans cariology & minimally invasive operative dentistry, minimum intervention oral care delivery and clinical trial delivery / national policy development. He has received the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Cariology Research (2022) and the John Tomes Medal from the BDA (2024). He has published 180 peer-reviewed research papers, 5 textbooks, 13 book chapters and has supervised 50 doctorate and masters’ students to date.
